? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ANNOUNCING PAGE PRO 99 VERSION 1.5 Updated 10-28-89 By Ed Johnson ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PAGE PRO 99 Version 1.5 will be available very soon (by mid-November if the documentation can be updated that quickly) and has the following enhancements: > Any alternate fonts that have been loaded are now saved with your page along with the picture information. When the page is re-loaded, an attempt is made to load the alternate fonts. If found on the disk(s) originally used to load them, they will replace the default font. If no found, the error is ignored and the default font is used (this is similar to how TI-Writer handles its CHARA1 file). > When exporting text, all trailing spaces are stripped off. Also, all pictures and large characters are stripped out since they are stored with ASCII values higher than 127. This will make your exported text files "cleaner". > When importing text, the text is now merged into your page starting at the row and column position of the cursor. The page is not cleared, and anything on the page that is not covered by the incoming text is not disturbed. For example, you have your cursor at row 5, column 10 and you want to import a block of text that is 5 lines by 30 columns. The text will fill in rows 5 through 9 and columns 10 through 39 without othering anything else on the page. you are still limited to a maximum of 66 lines by 60 columns of text. If you want to import text into a clean page, you have to do a reset first. > A rather obnoxiuos little sound is made when ever you change typing directions. > Error handling has been improved. In most cases, you will be sent back to the prompt that caused the error and given an opprotunity to change a file name more easily. Also, you can change picture path/filenames "on the fly". If you load a page with pictures on a different drive, an error will be issued and you will be given the chance to enter a new path/filename for your picture. Much easier than trying to hunt down the culprit later on. > The cursor wil not "home" itself after an I/O error. I apologize for letting this slip in the program in the first place. > A rather nifty catalog routine has been installed. At any time you are prompted for a path.filename you can enter the path you want to catalog (make sure to put the period on the end of the path) and press CTRL-C. The path along with the filename read from the disk will now be displayed in the input area. Just tap the space bar to flip through the files on the disk or press enter to select a file. The last file read will now be the default for the input prompt. Let me know who you like this way of cataloging the disk. This routine works with both floppies and hard drives. > I think I've gotten rid of the "4A flicker" and this version should also work just fine with the 80 column cards for the 4A, but I won't know this for sure until the beta-testing is done. > All of the above enhancements have been installed and tested except the last one (I don't have a 4A set up and don't really have room for it!). I will be showing this version at the Chicago Faire and promise to have a couple more goodies installed before then (like the ability to save any part of your page back as a picture file!). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I want to thank all PAGE PRO 99 users for their support, suggestions, and constructive criticisms. I promise to keep plugging away on improvements as time allows and the support continues to be there. Keep those "wish list" suggestions coming in!
