Documentation for RESTOR.BA/CO The RESTOR machine language program is used to try and recover .DO files after a "cold start", for the Model 100 and Model 102 only! RESTOR is loaded directly from tape to TELCOM's previous screen buffer where it immediately runs via the RUNM command, therefore it does NOT overwrite any of the user RAM. To make RESTOR tape: 1. Connect cassette recorder to your Model 100/102 and insert a new tape. 2. Load and run RESTORE.BA, make sure that the RECORD/PLAY buttons are depressed. RESTOR.CO will be created and automatically saved to tape. 3. Remove your RESTOR cassette from recorder, label and store where readily available. To use RESTOR tape: 1. Connect cassette recorder to your Model 100/102, insert the RESTOR tape and set recorder in the PLAY position. 2. Enter BASIC and type: RUNM "CAS:RESTOR" ...and press ENTER. When your Model 100/102 locates RESTOR it will say "Found:RESTOR" and almost immediately return you to the main menu which will be full of files: FILEA.DO, FILEB.DO, FILEC.DO, etc. The number of new files will depend upon how many files you had in RAM before the "cold start". These files are the contents of your RAM and will hopefully contain all your .DO files as well as a considerable amount of garbage, simply delete the junk and keep the stuff you want. It should be noted that just because there is garbage in the top half of a file does not mean that the whole file is useless, there very well be useful text latter in the file. If there is a lot of garbage at the top of a file use F1 to search for a string from the text that you lost.
