ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN LIMA NEWSLETTER MARCH 1993 THE SPIDER'S GUIDE TO FUNNELWEB CONFIGURATION book review by Charles Good Lima Ohio User Group Do you have trouble configuring Funnelweb using Funnelweb's CONFIG utility? Do CONFIG's mention terms such as "TI -Writer side" vs "Edit/ASSM side", or "Immediate" confuse you?. You are not alone. Because the Funnelweb environment is designed to be adaptable to all TI hardware from a one drive SSSD system to systems with lots of drives, hard drives, and an 80 column cards or Geneve, Funnelweb configuration can be complicated. About 3 years ago I made a video tape tutorial on Funnelweb configuration. This video was warmly received at the time by the TI community. However there is a basic flaw with such a 2 hour video tape tutorial. It is hard to find the answer to a specific question without viewing the whole tape from the begining. My video was based on Funnelweb v4.21 and is now out of date. A more up to date Funnelweb configuration tutorial in hard copy booklet format is now available from Larry Tippett. Larry's book walks the user step by step through the whole configuration process. At each step the book shows Funnelweb CONFIG screens just as they would appear on the user's monitor. These accurate and numerous illustrations of CONFIG screens make this book more useful than the Funnelweb CONFIG flow charts and text tutorials I have seen in newsletters. The ability to quickly page through the book to the exact part of the CONFIG process where help is needed makes Larry's book better than any CONFIG tutorial on video tape. As a long time Funnelweb user I can attest to the accuracy and "user friendliness" of Larry's book and recommend it to anyone needing this kind of help. A sample page is reproduced below. THE SPIDER'S GUIDE TO FUNNELWEB CONFIGURATION will be available at the various TI faires and is also available for $3.50 plus $0.50 postage directly from the author: Larry Tippett 5826 Buffalo St. Sanborn NY 14132
